რობერტ რეკორდი
რობერტ რეკორდი (ინგლ. Robert Recorde დ. დაახ. 1512 — გ. 1558) — უელსელი მათემატიკოსი და ექიმი. მან გამოიგონა ტოლობის ნიშანი (=) და ასევე წარუდგინა საზოგადოებას უკვე არსებული პლიუს ნიშანი (+) 1557 წელს.[1]

ბიოგრაფია
რეკორდი დაიბადა ტენბის პატივსაცემ ოჯახში 1512 წელს.[1] დაახლოებით 1525 წელს იგი მოეწყო ოქსფორდის უნივერსიტეტში. მედიცინის პროფესიად არჩევის შემდეგ მან კემბრიჯის უნივერსიტეტში ჩააბარა, სადაც მეცნიერებათა დოქტორის ხარისხი მიიღო 1545 წელს. შემდეგ რეკორდი დაუბრუნდა ოქსფორდს, სადაც საჯარო ლექციებს ატარებდა მათემატიკაში, როგორც ამას კემბრიჯში წასვლამდე აკეთებდა. ცოტა ხნის შემდეგ იგი გადავიდა ლონდონში, სადაც იგი მართავდა ინგლისის სამეფო ზარაფხანასა და ირლანდიის ანალოგიურ განყოფილებას.[2]
რობერტ რეკორდი იყო ასევე მეფე ედუარდ VI-სა და დედოფალ მერი I-ის პირადი ექიმი, რომელთაც ეძღვნება მისი ზოგიერთი წიგნი.
საბოლოოდ რეკორდი პოლიტიკური ოპონენტების ცილისწამების მსხვერპლი გახდა: მას უჩივლეს, გაასამართლეს, დააპატიმრეს ვალების გამო და „კინგს ბიჩის“ ციხეში ჩასვეს, სადაც იგი 1558 წლის ივნისის შუა რიცხვებში გარდაიცვალა.[3]
