იტალო კალვინო (იტალ. Italo Calvino დ. 15 ოქტომბერი, 1923 — გ. 19 სექტემბერი, 1985) — იტალიელი მწერალი და ჟურნალისტი. მის ყველაზე ცნობილ ნაწარმოებებს შორისაა მოთხრობათა კრებული „კოსმოკომიკური ამბები“ (1965), ასევე პოსტმოდერნისტული რომანები „უხილავი ქალაქები“ (1972) და „თუ ზამთრის ღამით მოგზაური“ (1979).

ბიოგრაფია

მშობლები

იტალო კალვინო 1932 წელს კუბაში, ჰავანის გარეუბანში, დაიბადა. მისი მამა, მარიო, ტროპიკული აგრონომი და ბოტანიკოსი იყო.^[1] იგი 1885 წელს იტალიაში, სან-რემოში, დაიბადა, 1909 წელს კი მექსიკაში ემიგრირდა, სადაც სოფლის მეურნეობის მინისტრი გახდა. ავტობიოგრაფიულ ესეში კალვინო მამამისზე წერს, რომ „ახალგაზრდობაში იგი ანარქისტი, კროპოტკინის მიმდევარი, შემდეგ კი სოციალისტი რეფორმისტი იყო.“^[2] 1917 წელს, მექსიკაში რევოლუციის რეჟიმში ცხოვრების შემდეგ, მარიო სამეცნიერო ექსპერიმენტების ჩასატარებლად კუბაში გადავიდა.

კალვინოს დედა, ჯილიანა ლუჯია ეველინა „ევა“ მამელი, ბოტანიკოსი და უნივერსიტეტის პროფესორი იყო.^[3] იგი სარდინიელი, კერძოდ, სასარელი იყო და 11 წლით უფროს მარიოზე ჯერ კიდევ მაშინ დაქორწინდა, როცა პავიას უნივერსიტეტში უმცროსი ლექტორი იყო. ევამ შვილს სახელი თავისი იტალიური ფესვების შესახსენებლად დაარქვა. კალვინო მიიჩნევდა, რომ მისი სახელი „გამომწვევად ნაციონალისტურად“ ჟღერდა.^[4]
