ჯეიმზ დეივიდ ფორბზი (ინგლ. James David Forbes; დ. 20 აპრილი, 1809 — გ. 31 დეკემბერი, 1868) — შოტლანდიელი ფიზიკოსი და გლაციოლოგი. მუშაობდა სითბური გამტარობისა და სეისმოლოგიის საკითხებზე. ცხოვრების დიდი ნაწილი გატარა ქალაქ ედინბურგში, სწავლობდა ამავე ქალაქის უნივერსიტეტში და 1833 წლიდან იყო უნივერსიტეტის პროფესორი.

ჯეიმზ დეივიდ ფორბზი დაიბადა 1809 წლის 20 აპრილს ქალაქ ედინბურგში. 1825 წელს ჩააბარა ედინბურგის უნივერსიტეტში. 19 წლის ასაკში გახდა ედინბურგის სამეფო საზოგადოების წევრი, ხოლო 1832 წელს აირჩიეს ლონდონის სამეფო საზოგადოების წევრად. 1833 წლიდან ედინბურგის უნივერსიტეტში ფილოსოფიის პროფესორია.
სახელი გაითქვა როგორც სითბოსა და მყინვარების მკვლევარმა. 1836-1844 წლებს შორის გამოაქვეყნა ოთხტომეული „სითბოს გამოკვლევა“, სადაც აღწერა ინფრაწითელი სითბოს სხივური პოლარიზაცია და სხვა. 1842 წელს გამოიგონა სეისმოგრაფი. 1846 წელს ტემპერატურის გამოსაკვლევად დაიწყო ექსპერიმენტების ჩატარება დედამიწის სხვადასხვა სიღრმეებში და ედინბურგის მიმდებარე ტერიტორიებზე. 1838 წელს სამეფო საზოგადოებამ დააჯილდოვა რუმფორდის მედლით, ხოლო 1843 წელს ოქროს მედლით.
მოღვაწეობდა გეოლოგიაშიც. გამოაქვეყნა შრომა, რომელიც მიეძღვნა გეოთერმულ წყაროებს, ვულკანებსა და სხვა. შვეიცარიასა და ნორვეგიაში მოგზაურობისას სწავლობდა მყინვარების მოძრაობას და დაკვირვებებს ატარებდა მათ შიდა სტუქტურებზე. ამრიგად, ფორბზმა დიდი წვლილი შეიტანა გლაციოლოგიის როგორც მეცნიერების ჩამოყალიბებაში.
დეივიდ ფორბზის სახელობისაა მდინარე და მყინვარი ახალ ზელანდიაში.
