არჩილ ჯანაშვილი
არჩილ ჯანაშვილი (დ. 9 იანვარი, 1904, კახი — გ. 12 თებერვალი, 1985, თბილისი) — ქართველი ზოოლოგი, პროფესორი (1963 წ). საქართველოში ზოოგეოგრაფიის ერთ-ერთი ფუძემდებელი. ამ დარგში ჯანაშვილის ნაშრომები „ზოოგეოგრაფია“ (მე-3 გამოცემა, თბილისი, 1974 წ) და „ზოოგეოგრაფიული რუკა“ (სსრ ატლასი, თბილისი, 1964 ) პირველია ქართულ ენაზე. დაამთავრა თსუ-ს პედაგოგიური ფაკულტეტი, საბუნებისმეტყველო განხრით (1927 წ). 1926 წლიდან მუშაობდა თსუ-ის ზოოლოგიის კათედრაზე. იყო თსუ-ის ხერხემლიანთა ზოოლოგიის (1946-82 წწ) და თელავის სამასწავლებლო ინსტიტუტის ბუნებისმეტყველების (1939-44 წწ) კათედრათა გამგე. სხვადასხვა დროს მუშაობდა აგრეთვე თბილისის ზოოპარკში, საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის ზოოლოგიის, თბილისი სასოფლო სამეურნეო, თბილისი, გორის, ქუთაისის, სოხუმის პედაგოგიურ ინსტიტუტებში, ქართული საბჭოთა ენციკლოპედიის მთავარ სამეცნიერო რედაქციაში. ჯანაშვილის კვლევის საგანი იყო საქართველოს ძუძუმწოვრები, ქვეწარმავლები, ამფიბიები. დიდი ღვაწლი მიუძღვის ქართული ზოოლოგიური ტერმინოლოგიის შედგენის საქმეში. ავტორია მრავალი საბავშვო მოთხრობისა. მიღებული აქვს საქართველოს სსრ სახელმწიფო პრემია (1985 წ).
